So many beautiful details I find here, starting from the gorgeous color of water and reflection of this , I guess a little church, or monastery, then the whiteness and so neat monastery, that only in Europe one can see, and these raising clouds are just stunning . All scene is is so pretty and early Autumn adds these great colors .

I love the perspective yuo haveestablished in this image, Maria, with the pool water trailimng off to the right and forming a base for teh mountain as well as the chapel and the light is superb . I missed you fog invasion at Big Sur - that was magnificent too, MAria...Looks like you are away - stay well - safe travels and enjoy....All the best -Denny

lovely scene Maria with great atmosphere. I like the way you framed it against the side of what looks to be a much larger mountainside. No spider webs out there either

That is a very unique style of architecture - not like the usual gothic cathedrals

st. bartholomä - one of the most popular places on königsee! when you go there again, be sure to visit "malerwinkel" (or painters' corner) - it offers grand views over the lake!
love the fog / clouds again here! they make the mountains come alive, i think!

21 Jul 2011 8:01pm

@franz: Oh, that's a very valuable piece of information, Franz, thank you! I will definitely look for the Painter's Corner... I saw photos on the internet that were taken from the top of the mountains overlooking the lake, but had no idea how people got there or what is called. Thanks!!!

franz from Baden, Austria

actually, the malerwinkel is not high up on the hills, but rather along the path that follows the lake shore on the east side. it's very nice nevertheless! i wish you a pleasant stay in this magnificent part of bavaria!

21 Jul 2011 8:29pm

@franz: thanks Franz! :) I'll certainly look for it, since I intend to spend several days around this area

Stefan from Thiersee, Austria

I love this beautiful place between the magnificent Begen, great shot!

This is indeed a very special location! I remember I watched with great pleasure somebody's album on WB, but it was a few years back and I don't remeber WHO was the photographer! Anyway....this is a superb take of this unusual piece of architecture (those cupolas have much more to do with a Slav orthodox church, which is not the case here...or so I believe).
